The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team captured its first victory of the season on Saturday, defeating SCAC-foe Southwestern University, 179-79, in Georgetown, Texas.
Three Tigers, junior
Megan Simonson, sophomore
Adeline Turner and freshman
Julia Cox, led the way on Saturday by winning one individual and two relay races. All three were on the 200 medley (with
Isabella Cole) and 200 freestyle relay (with
Grace Ersfeld-O'Brien).
Individually, Simonson won the 50 freestyle, Turner the 200 freestyle and Cox the 100 freestyle, with leading a 1-2-3 finish along with Turner and Ersfeld-O'Brien.
The 1000 freestyle also went 1-2-3 for the Tigers, led by freshman
Kylie Spalt and followed by fellow freshman
Aspen Fisher and senior
Nabila Argueta.
Other winners on Saturday included junior
Malia Hewitt (200 IM), sophomores
Isabella Cole (100 breaststroke) and
Alyssa Tunggal (200 butterfly) and freshman
Abby Romisher (500 freestyle).
In diving, senior
Emma Krasemann, the reigning SCAC Diver of the Year, won both 1-meter competitions.
"We focused on racing and scoring points for the team today, which led to the victory," head coach
Jen Buffin said. "The team learned a lot about how to manage two meets in a weekend and kept focused on their race plans and managing their energy.
Emma Krasemann had another great day on the board."
Colorado College returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 16, against Adams State at Schlessman Natatorium, beginning at 12 p.m.
