GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Women's Swim and Dive program competed in the Tiger Invitational last week. A three-day event running from Friday, November 22nd to Sunday, November 24th at the Alamo Heights Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas. The Pirates finished in third place out of eleven teams, scoring 491.5 points, coming in behind DII Colorado State-Pueblo in second and Trinity University in first. This event marks the end of fall semester competition for Pirates Swim and Dive, in the new year, Southwestern will face off against Trinity University in a dual meet on January 18th.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS - DAY ONE

The Pirates started strong taking a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Ellie Samples, Niva Maskey, Mallory DeArmond, and Elizabeth Krajca completed the race in 1:40.43.

In the third event of the day, DeArmond was fifth in the 500 free with a time of 5:16.48

In the last event of day one for the women, the Pirate 400 medley relay team finished in fifth place 4:05.70 behind Colorado State-Pueblo and three Trinity teams.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS - DAY TWO

Southwestern was sixth overall in the 200 medley relay to kick off day two. Samples, Krajca, Maskey, and Jackie Vargas raced to a 1:52.28 finals time.

Ellie Samples turned in at sixth overall in the 100 fly with a final time of 59.12.

Krajca and DeArmond finished 7th and 8th respectively in the 200 freestyle putting up times of 1:59.64 and 2:00.96.

Samples capped off the day in the 100-yard backstroke in second place which was the Pirate's best solo finish of the meet thus far.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS -DAY THREE

Samples again excelled in the backstroke placing third in the 200 clocking in at 2:08.18. Her teammates DeArmond and Anna Kate Goodson came in fifth and sixth respectively.

Vargas concluded the 200 fly in 2:15.67 good enough for fifth place in the 29th event of the meet.

In the 1650-yard freestyle, Alexis Bolte placed sixth among sixteen racers with a time of 18:51.10.

The weekend's final event was the 400 freestyle relay in which Samples, DeArmond, Maskey and Krajca took another fourth-place finish, clipping fifth places by 2.34 seconds (3:40.58).
