Men's Swim and Dive Wraps Up Fall Semester at Tiger Invitational

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Swim and Dive team competed in their last meet of the calendar year and the fall semester last weekend at the Trinity Invitational. The three day meet took place from Friday November 22nd to Sunday November 24th at Alamo Heights Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas. At the conclusion of the meet, the Pirates put together 359 total points which was good for fourth place on the leader boards. Next time the Pirates will compete will be in 2025, taking on Trinity University in San Antonio on January 18th. 


MEET HIGHLIGHTS - DAY ONE

  • The Southwestern team of Owen Rodrigue, Eli Allen, Marc Galindo and Tim Young secured a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.49.

  • Andrew Renninger was eighth in the 200 IM clocking in a 1:57.59.

  • Eli Allen was the fastest finisher of day one for the Pirates, gaining third place in the 50 freestyle sprint.(21.20).

 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS - DAY TWO

  • The team of Galindo, Rodrigue, Allen, and Luke Lawhon was sixth in the 200 medley relay posting a time of 1:35.43 collectively.

  • Renninger placed sixth in the 400 IM race (4:11.41) behind a combination of Trinity and UT - Permian Basin swimmers.

  • The final event on Saturday was the 100 backstroke, an event where Owen Rodrigue placed fifth in with a time of 53.05

 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS - DAY THREE

  • Andrew Renninger completed his best race of the meet in the 200 backstroke scoring a third-place finish just .04 seconds (1:54.59) behind the tying winners. 

  • Renninger continued to gain top eight finishes, this time placing seventh in the 1650 freestyle, he was followed behind in eighth place by his teammate James Cosman who clocked in at 16:57.57

  • To finish out the meet, the Pirate team of Young, Rodrigue, Allen and Galindo completed the 400 freestyle relay in 3:09.45 which earned them a fifth place spot on the list.
