SANDESTIN, Fla. – Following Tuesday's final round of play at the Baytowne Golf Club, the 19th-ranked Trinity women's golf team finished 16th in the Golfweek October Classic.
The Tigers had their best team score of the three-day event on Tuesday, finishing the tournament with a combined score of 307. Trinity actually got better each round, following up Sunday's team score of 316 with a score of 313 yesterday.
Senior
Lucy Hansen (Gilbert, Ariz. / Campo Verde) had Trinity's low score in each round, finishing in a tie for 15th with a three-day score of 225 (78-72-75). She was third in the field of more than 100 competitors in par 4 scoring for the 54-hole event. Hansen also had one of just four eagles in the tournament after holing out in two on the second hole of yesterday's round in which she shot even-par for the day. She finished the tournament with five total birdies to go with her eagle, tying for the team lead in under-par scores for the week.
Fellow senior
Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) had six total birdies over the three days, shooting a three-round total of 234 (79-77-78). First-year
Marlo Zamora (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) finished just three shots back of her teammate with a score of 237 (80-80-77), and had her best round of the week with today's 77.
Senior
Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) shot a three-round total of 240 (79-84-77) and also had her best score of the week today, shooting 77 overall. Junior
Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) shot 250 (80-91-79) and also enjoyed her best score of the week on Tuesday, shooting 79 over today's 18 holes.
With this week's tournament, Trinity wraps up the fall portion of its schedule and will return to competition in the spring.
