
Ladies Blanked 1-0 At LaGrange
The Centenary women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the LaGrange College Panthers on Saturday in a non-conference match at Panther Field.
LaGrange, Ga. – The Centenary women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the LaGrange College Panthers on Saturday in a non-conference match at Panther Field.
The Ladies (0-2) returned to action for the first time since dropping a 3-0 decision to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in Marshall, Texas back on Sept. 1. The Panthers evened their record to 2-2 with the win.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime and then the Panthers' Kaia King's goal in the 80th minute broke the ice and gave the home team a 1-0 lead. The goal, an unassisted score, was King's fourth of the season.
Sophomore GK Kaniyah Hill (Tyler, Texas) started in goal for the Ladies and played the first 64:55 and made three saves before she was replaced by sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) who made two saves in her 25:05.
Anna Wright started in goal for the Panthers and went the distance as she made four saves. The match did not feature much offensive action as only 13 shots were taken, nine by LaGrange and four by Centenary and the Ladies took two corner kicks while the Panthers did not take one. Centenary was whistled for one foul, LaGrange none, and five yellow cards were issues – three to the Panthers and two to the Ladies.
Centenary finishes the weekend on Sunday with a match against the Huntingdon College Hawks (2-3) in Montgomery, Ala. at Noon.
