DeSOTO, Texas – The Tiger men's golf team finished third after the final round of the Texas Cup on Tuesday, which was hosted by the University of Texas-Dallas at the Thorntree Country Club.
Trinity shot a final-round score of 295 and finished nine shots out of the lead for the 54-hole event with a total team score of 872. LeTourneau University took the top team honor, with hosting UT-Dallas finishing second. The UT-Dallas "B" team was fourth, followed by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in fifth place.
Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) and
Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) both finished in a tie for seventh individually, and both tied for the Tiger lead with 12 birdies over the last two days. Mason shot a 216 overall, but today was his first day shooting over par, shooting a 77 after carding a 69 and 70 on Monday. Marlow also had a 216, shooting even-par 72 on Tuesday to follow his 73 and 71 in the first two rounds.
Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) notched the low round of the day for Trinity, shooting a two-under 70 to move into a tie for 10th individually. Code had a tournament-best three eagles over the last two days, carding two yesterday and one more today.
Grant Clark (College Grove, Tenn. / Page) finished in a tie for 27th after shooting 227 (79-71-77) for the tournament. He led the Tigers with 36 pars over the three rounds of action.
Dennis Butts (Houston, Texas / Stratford) finished with a 229 (82-71-76) for the week, while
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) shot 239 (75-80-84).

Trinity will play in the West Region Invitational on Monday, April 8, at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas. That will be the team's final tournament prior to this year's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, held April 21-23 at the White Bluff Resort in Lake Whitney, Texas.
