BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Trinity men's and women's cross country teams both finished as runners-up at the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Centenary College (La.) on Saturday morning.
The Tiger men have finished second for the sixth consecutive year and have been no worse than second every year since 2012 – a streak of 13 consecutive seasons. The Tiger women have a similar streak of 14 straight years finishing first or second, while also earning the runner-up prize each of the past four years.
The women had three runners earn All-SCAC honors by finishing in the top 14 individually, led by
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) in ninth place with a time of 22:51.05. That time is a new personal best for the junior, who also earned her first All-SCAC honor.
Charlotte Martin (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was the SCAC Newcomer of the Year after being the top finisher in the league among first-year runners. She was 12th with a time of 23:15.76 that is also her second-best of the season.
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) was 14th with a personal-best time of 23:29.36 and she earned All-SCAC recognition for the second straight year.
The Tiger men also saw three runners finish in the top eight to earn All-SCAC status for 2024.
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) led the pack with a time of 25:05.65 to finish second for the second time in his career. Salony has earned All-SCAC honors each of his four seasons at Trinity, finishing ninth in 2021, second in 2022, third last year, and now second once again.
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) picked up his first All-SCAC award after turning in the second-fastest time of his career at 25:51.53 and finishing in sixth place.
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) turned in a season-best time of 25:55.67 for an eighth-place finish. He was previously All-SCAC after finishing in 10th place in 2022.
Trinity's women also had a total of nine runners in the top 25 individually. In addition to the three All-SCAC performers, Trinity held six of the seven spots from 18th to 24th in the race.
Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) led that group with her second-best time of the season at 23:50.87 and 18th place.
Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) produced her best time of the year at 23:54.86 to finish 19th, while
Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) was 20th in 24:02.01.
Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) broke her personal record with a time of 24:04.18 to finish 21st, then
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) was 23rd in 24:08.20.
Kate Boone (Temple, Texas / Holy Trinity Catholic) was 24th in her time of 24:10.55 that was good for her second-fastest of the year.
The Trinity men had four additional runners finish in the top 40, led by
Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) in 25th place with a time of 26:59.08.
Luke Whitfill (Overland Park, Kan. / The Barstow School) took the next spot with a time of 27:04.76 that was just over three seconds from his personal best.
Ben Kim (Austin, Texas / Anderson) crossed the line in 27:16.32 for 31st place, and
Thomas Melina-Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum) was 39th with a time of 27:30.17.
