Shreveport - The Centenary men's soccer team lost a tough 1-0 match to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Sunday afternoon as the Gents celebrated their 2024 senior class at Atkins Field.
The Gents (7-8-1, 3-6-0 SCAC) honored their senior class- MF Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.), MF Hunter Booth (Harrodsburg, Ky.), F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) F Odin Munguia (Baton Rouge, La.), and D Christopher Tarr (Durban, South Africa) before the match.
Centenary, which also lost a hard-fought 1-0 match to Southwestern University on Friday, battled the Bulldogs (8-2-4, 4-2-3 SCAC) step for step in a scoreless contest until TLU's Jack Manke found the net in the 69th minute with the assist from Diego Sanchez. Bulldogs' GK Noel Pena and their stingy defense made that 1-0 lead hold up for the next 20+ minutes. Centenary freshman GK Sebastian Lutin (Fort Worth, Texas) went the distance and made six saves while Pena also played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves.
TLU finished with a 17-10 advantage in shots and each team took three corner kicks. The Gents were whistled for 10 fouls while the Bulldogs picked up eight and Pena picked up the match's only yellow card in the 79th minute.
The Gents, who finished 4-4-1 on their home field this season, complete the regular season next weekend on the road with SCAC matches at Schreiner University and Trinity University
