TLU and St. Thomas Play to Scoreless Draw

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against St. Thomas at Gustafson Field Friday evening. The Bulldogs go to 6-1-4 and 2-1-3 in the SCAC while the Celts are 7-4-1 and 3-2-1 in conference play.

Texas Lutheran has shutout five of their six opponents so far in conference play and have totaled seven in total this season.

TLU out shot St. Thomas 7-6 on the evening and finished with a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Texas Lutheran also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) made three saves for his seventh clean sheet of the season. With his final save, Pena reached 100 saves in his career. The shutout is the 25th in his career bringing Pena within 1.5 shutouts of Jonathan Michael's (2012-15) career record of 26.5 shutouts and 2.5 behind his single-season record of 9.5 set just a season ago.

The Bulldogs controlled most of the first half with 63% possession and getting three shots on target but could not find the back of the net. Senior Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) led the Bulldogs with two shots and two shots on goal on Friday.

The momentum would shift towards the Celts in the second half in what was a physical matchup that saw six yellow cards between the two teams. The Celts would win the possession and shot battle in the second half but would not lead to any goals.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 20, against 4th-ranked Colorado College. Kickoff is set for 12 PM and will be streamed on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
