Hawks Fall To Centenary At MUW

COLUMBUS, Miss.- In their second game hosted at the Mississippi University for Women, Huntingdon men's soccer(1-1 overall) was defeated by the Centenary College Gents(1-1 overall) 4-1.

How it happened

Huntingdon opened the game aggressively on offense, with Carlos Melendez scoring on the Hawk's first shot of the game off an assist from Tate Reynolds at the 10:24 mark. Over the course of the following minutes, neither squad could get past the opposing sides goalkeeper, with Braden Ross collecting two saves and the Gents not allowing Huntingdon another attempt at the goal. Centenary scored at the 29:35 mark, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie entering the second half.

After 20 minutes of stifiling defense to open the second half, Centenary back-to-back goals at the 68 and 73 minute mark to give themselves the momentum and a 3-1 lead. Following the Gents' offensive push, Huntingdon struggled to recover, taking a 4-1 loss.

Men's soccer will return to action on Friday, September 6th at home vs Point University at 1:00.
