#25 Women's Golf Wraps Westbrook Invitational Tied for Fourth

PEORIA, Ariz. – The 25th-ranked Trinity women's golf team closed out the Westbrook Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in a fourth-place tie with host school and top-ranked George Fox University (OR).

The team title was won by seventh-ranked University of Redlands (CA) with a two-day score of 580 (289-291), edging out four other teams within five shots of the winners. Trinity (287-298) and George Fox (286-299) both shot 585 for the tournament. Sixth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CA) was two shots back in second place, while fourth-ranked Emory University (GA) finished just one shot in front of the Tigers in third place.

Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) was the top individual finisher for Trinity, scoring a two-round total of 142 (68-74) to finish in a tie for sixth individually. Sanchez De la Fuente Molino was just three shots off the individual medalist and finished tied for fourth among the field with 26 total pars for the week.

Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) was just one shot behind her teammate in a tie for eighth, wrapping up the tournament with a score of 143 (69-74). Mason and Sanchez De la Fuente both finished under-par for the tournament on Par 5 holes. Mason also led the entire tournament with 10 total birdies over the two days, including three in a four-hole stretch on Tuesday.

Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) was right on the heels of her teammates, shooting a total score of 144 (72-72) for the weekend to finish 10th individually. Flynn was Trinity's top scorer on Par 3 holes this weekend, and was one of just seven total players in the field to finish with an even-par total for the tournament. Flynn also had three birdies in each round and finished second on the team with six total.

Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) and Marlo Zamora (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) both finished in the top 35 individually. Hsiu shot 78 on both days to finish with a 156 total that edged Zamora (78-79) by just one shot.

"It was a great tournament for the team," said Head Coach Shelby DeVore. "There were some top-ranked teams at this event and we learned we can compete with them. Very proud of the girls!"
