#13 CNU Sweeps #22 Trinity on the Road, 3-0

Kara Elder continues solid tournament with 10 kills

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- In their second match of the day, the 13th ranked CNU volleyball Captains took care of the host and 22nd ranked Trinity University Tigers, 3-0. Christopher Newport improves to 5-1 this season with the sweep.

CNU won the first set 25-22, second 25-16 and rounded out the victory with a 26-24 finishing set.

Kara Elder (Charlottesville, Va.) finished off a terrific day on the court for the Captains, adding 10 kills and 16 digs to her morning total of 11 and 20 respectively. Cory Harris (Williamsburg, Va.) also had another 10 kills after a double-digit performance in game one.

The Captains setter, Jessie Heavenrich (Cambria, Calif.) added 34 assists for a season-total of 174 in just six matches. She joined Elder with a double-double, registering 13 digs for CNU.

The 13th ranked Captains will return to the floor at the Trinity Classic tomorrow, facing Pacific University at Noon (EST) followed by a showdown with nationally ranked Southwestern at 4:45 pm (EST).
