SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity Tiger cross country teams came out with another strong weekend at the Our Lady of the Lake Invitational, hosted here in San Antonio at the Windcrest Golf Course.
Women's cross country was led by
Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) in their first 6K of the season. Gnecco added to her success on the weekend by breaking her personal best with a time of 23:43.5. For the Trinity Tiger men, first-year
Nico Lopez (Buda, Texas / Johnson) led the men's second 8K of the season with his time of 26:45.3.
The Tiger women finished today's invitational with an overall team score of 103, placing themselves in fourth place while the Tiger men finished with 154 points to take sixth place.
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) and
Stephanie Suarez (Harlingen, Texas / Harlingen) finished after Gnecco in 21st and 23rd place, with times of 22:55.5 and 23:11.4. For Keena, she set a new personal best in her first 6K of the season.
Also securing another new personal best on the weekend was
Ellie Herrick (Corpus Christi, Texas / Tuloso Midway), with her new time of 23:35.4 that was good for 29th at this morning's meet.
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) finished just behind Herrick in 30th with a time of 23:37.2, while
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) was 31st in 23:37.4.
For the men,
Landon Vaughan (Grapevine, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) was 30th with his time of 27:33.6, and
Ben Kim (Austin, Texas / Anderson) finished 34th in 27:47.8 in the event.
Joshua Gal (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) came in with a time of 28:15.6 that put him 38th.
Jacob Ontiveros (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) and
Ian Strang (Sarasota, Fla. / Out-of-Door Academy) finished back-to-back just outside the top 40 with times of 28:32.8 and 28:34.8, respectively.
