Pirates Take Game From #12 Trinity, Finish Series 1-2

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Baseball (7-10) handed the #12 Trinity University Tigers their fifth loss of the season this afternoon. The Pirates went down 0-2 on the series after close back-to-back three-run losses to the Tigers. Southwestern was able to find some luck with the bats on St. Patrick's Day, scoring nine runs in six different innings throughout the game. The Pirate defense held tough, keeping the final score line at 9-2 in favor of Southwestern.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jake Harris led the team in hits with three hits, also leading in RBIs with two.
  • Maxwell Mims recorded two hits and was tied for the team lead with two RBIs.
  • Carson Brown got the win on the mound today, allowing one earned run in 5.2 IP.

NOTES

  • The Pirates stole eight bases in the contest. James Vaquero and Jake Harris combined for half with two a piece. 
  • Ben Feuer notched two hits and one RBI, while Vaquero scored two runs. 
  • Brown threw 109 strikes in his outing, facing 27 batters.
