SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity men's golf teams finished second and third at the Alamo City Classic, hosted over the past two days at The Quarry Golf Course.
The Tiger "A" team made up of
Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning),
Giorgio Gianoulis (Salt Lake City, Utah / Rowland Hall),
Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family),
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola), and
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) finished as the runner-up to LeTourneau University (TX) at the 54-hole event. The Trinity "B" team comprised of
Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos),
Brody Grieb (Bend, Ore. / Summit),
Connor Hess (Jacksonville, Fla. / Episcopal School of Jacksonville),
Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill), and
Jack McKay (Spring, Texas / Klein Oak) was third. Tigers
Alex Place (San Antonio, Texas / Roosevelt) and
Barret Wisener (Dallas, Texas / Sachse) also competed as individuals.
The Tigers shot a three-round score of 874 (292-290-292) to edge their teammates' score of 876 (294-288-294) for second place. LeTourneau finished with a two-day total of 854 (286-280-288) to win the event. The University of Dallas (TX) was in fourth, followed by the University of St. Thomas (TX), Texas Lutheran University "A", Howard Payne University (TX), and Texas Lutheran "B" in the eighth spot.
Three Trinity golfers earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team: Hess, Mason, and Rossi. Hess and Mason tied with scores of 213 over three rounds, which was even-par for the tournament. Hess shot 71-67 on day one, then finished with a 75 in today's final round. Mason opened with a 69-73 day, then shot even-par 71 today to finish at even. Rossi shot 74-69 yesterday and matched Mason with a 71 today to close his tournament at plus-one 214.
Forster just missed a spot on the All-Tournament Team, finishing seventh with a five-over score of 218. He shot 73-74 on Monday, then was even today with a final-round 71. McKay was tied for 13th with a score of 222 (75-71-76), while Marlow finished in a tie for 19th with a score of 225 (75-78-72).
Sandhu was tied for 22nd after shooting 226 overall (71-71-86), while Gianoulis finished just outside the top 25 at 26th place with a 229 (78-77-74) for the week. Code was tied for 28th with a 233 (79-78-76), while Grieb shot 241 (82-76-83). Place (81-86-84) and Wisener (86-78-87) both shot 251 for the tournament.
