CC Places Third at Pebworth Invite

The Colorado College men's swimming team placed third overall out of 11 teams with 846 points after the third and final day of the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational in Crawfordsville, IN. Birmingham-Southern College placed first with 907 points.

"It was exciting to see our people really step up and race today," head coach Anne Goodman James said.  "We saw an amazing race from Collin Ralston in the 200 breaststroke events. Edmund Davis had his second win, taking first in the 1650 free."

CC had a couple of top-five finishes, including a top-three finish in the only relay of the day and a solo win in the longest race of the weekend.

Distance machine Edmund Davis claimed victory in the 1,650 freestyle after beating the closest swimmer by 10 seconds with a time of 16:11.48. Davis has won the event numerous times coming into this weekend.

Collin Ralson placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke after recording a personal best time of 2:06.23. Kole Peterson finished seventh in the same event with a time of 2:12.87.

In the 100-yard IM, Jack Higgins placed eighth with a time of 55.53. Caleb Peimann claimed fifth-place honors in the next event, the 200-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:56.25.

Peimann, alongside Hussin, Dax Sherwood and Eric Uerling, placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay in the last event of the day after touching in 3:09.47.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Tomas Gonzales finished in the top ten after a ninth-place finish of 1:59.05. Fellow freshman Kole Peterson, in the 200-yard breaststroke, finished in 1:59.05, good enough for seventh place.

Hussin got the last top-five finish of the day for CC in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.90.

"This meet was an excellent match for our team, with most people making finals each day. It was excellent preparation for the championship part of our season," Anne Goodman James said. "I'm really proud of our team and the toughness they demonstrated."

The Tigers will return to diving action when they travel to Midland, Texas, on Dec. 1 to take on Division II foe, Texas Permian Basin. The next duel meet won't be until the turn of the new year, on Jan. 7 when Roger Williams University comes to Colorado Springs.
