HOUSTON – The Trinity University women's golf team finished second by just one stroke at the Space City Classic on Tuesday afternoon at the Gus Wortham Park Golf Course.

The Tigers shot a combined score of 617 (309-308) over the two-day, 36-hole event, but today's comeback bid fell just short as the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor scored the narrow victory. University of St. Thomas finished third, followed by Hardin-Simmons University and Southwestern University to round out the top five.

Individually, Trinity senior Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) led a group of three Tiger players that finished in the top five. Hsiu was four shots off the individual medalist from UMHB, shooting 150 (76-74) for the week. Hsiu tied for the top spot in Par 3 scoring with an even-par 3.00 average for the two rounds. She was also in the top five in Par 4 scoring and was one of just six players in the field to shoot under-par on Par 5 holes. Hsiu also led all players with six birdies in the tournament.

Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) finished in a tie for third place after shooting a 152 (77-75) in the tournament. Marlo Zamora (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) was tied for fifth with her total of 155 (78-77) and the Tiger trio all turned in lower scores in today's round. Sanchez De la Fuente Molino led the field with her 24 pars in 36 total holes, while Zamora was tied with Hsiu for the best average on Par 3 scoring and second on the team with four birdies.

Hsiu, Sanchez De la Fuente Molino, and Zamora were all named to the All-Tournament Team for finishing in the top five at this week's event.

Playing as an individual this week, Tiger newcomer Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) made her debut at Trinity with a top-10 individual finish, carding a 157 (77-80) to tie for eighth place. Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) was 12th with her two-day score of 160 (78-82), while Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) finished just outside the top 25 with a 173 (86-87) for the week.
