
The University of St. Thomas Celts dominated the Centenary Ladies this Friday night at Houston Sports Park, comfortably winning 2-1.
The Celts wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In just the 4th minute of the game, Brooke Le headed one into the goal from a corner kick putting the Celts up 1-0. Nearing the end of the first half, the Ladies' got one past the Celts' goalie Sophia Escontrias in the 24th minute. For a while the game maintained a scoreline of 1-1, until the second half where McCoy tapped in a ball sent over by Mariana Alvarez-Garcia to secure the ball in the back of the net.
The Celts comfortably controlled the remainder of the second half, securing most of the possession and taking a total of 23 shots throughout the match. The Ladies were only able to fire off 4 shots.
Coach Nick says he feels good with this win and happy about being 2-0 in conference. "The girls' work rate has been great and I'm happy about that. We have practiced a lot but still need to work on a few touch-ups" Morrison shared.
The Celts will play again this Sunday at Houston Sports Park, taking on Concordia at 3pm.
