GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern women's swim team has ended it's regular season with three dual meet wins on the year, a third place finish out of eleven teams in the Trinity Invitational and a second place finish at the Celt Invite early in the year. The Pirates will go into the conference championship meet following a victory over the McMurry War Hawks 133-49.
HIGHLIGHTS (First Place Finishes)
- 200 Medley Relay - The women began the meet with a victory in the relay, the team of Mallory DeArmond, Kamryn Shaffer, Elise Samples and Niva Maskey came in at a time of 1:59.65, defeating their teammates in second place.
- 50 Backstroke - Samples time of 28.57 was good enough for the first place spot ahead of her teammate Elizabeth Krajca (31.24).
- 100 Backstroke - Maskey gathered her first individual and second overall win in the backstroke, clocking in at 1:05.65 with Krajca again following her teammate with a time of 1:07.15.
- 50 Butterfly - Anna Kate Goodson and Alexis Bolte went head to head in the sprint, with Goodson coming in first at 30.20 and Bolte following .5 seconds behind at 30.70 seconds.
- 100 IM - Samples gained her second individual win in the IM at a pace of 1:04.27, taking down a War Hawk competitor in second place.
- 200 Freestyle Relay - Maskey, Krajca, Bolte and Emma Watts were able to put in a first place time of 1:49.64, beating out the McMurry squad by just .43 seconds.
NOTABLE FINISHES
- 50 Freestyle - Kamryn Shaffer placed second in the sprint event (25.17), book ended by two War Hawk swimmers.
