IRVING, Texas -- The Crusaders opened up the season against the Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons (4-0) and it was full of action.
In game one, the Crusaders showed grit, battling through a scoring deficit earning three solid hits by MacKenzie Flocke, SunnyDale Thies, and Mariah Hinojosa. Although Dallas was shut out there were multiple moments the Crusaders were able to build upon heading into game two.
In game two, Ava Trevino, had 2 strikeouts, stifling the hitting of the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls began to cool down at the plate, the Crusaders began to ignite. At the bottom of the 4th, the Crusaders found themselves in control after scoring on back-to-back at-bats. The Cowgirls regained momentum at the top of the 7th following a walk and never looked back.
The Crusaders gained some confidence going into conference play although they came up short in this series.
UDallas will play at 6PM on Friday the 14th and 1PM & 3PM on Saturday the 15th Georgetown, Texas. The Crusaders will face the Pirates of Southwestern University and both games will have live stats available at UDathletics.com, as well as live stream through Southwestern's Youtube.

Lizette Sosa brought home Keely Mathis on a fly ball to right field and advanced Bre Barnes to third.
Katie Duffy-Relf singled up the middle to send Bre Barnes home and take the lead (2-1) over the Cowgirls.
Keely Mathis was able to get a team-high 2 hits, one in the 4th and one in the 6th.
