SIDE OUT

  • Texas Lutheran won their lone regular season matchup against the 'Roos in 2024 after going 2-0 against them in 2023. Texas Lutheran last met the 'Roos in the opening round of the SCAC Tournament in 2022 - defeating the 'Roos in four sets.
  • Texas Lutheran is making its sixth straight appearance in the SCAC Tournament and 11th appearance overall - with the 2018 season being the only season missing the tournament since joining the SCAC in 2013. The Bulldogs are 8-13 overall (.381) in SCAC Tournament play and seeking their second SCAC Championship appearance.
  • The 2024 season marks the third straight season the Bulldogs have tallied double-digit conference wins. Texas Lutheran looks to reach the 20-win mark for the third straight season with a win in the SCAC quarterfinals.
  • Following yet another stand out regular season on the TLU back row, Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) has kept the #LiberoU tradition alive and well. Coldewey sits seventh in NCAA Division-III iin digs per set (6.18) and 18th overall in total digs (593). Coldewey has been named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week three times this season for her performance. With 593 digs, Coldewey is eight off of her career high as she approaches having a top ten season in program history in the category.
  • Senior setter Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) moved into sixth all-time in program history in digs as she increased her career total to 1,555, passing Megan Dugie (1,488, 2012-15).
  • The last trip to Austin College saw the Bulldogs sweep through Austin College, Centenary, and Dallas during the 2023 regular season. The Bulldogs will look to conjure that same magic in the tournament.

OUT OF THE BOX

  • Austin College is led by senior right side TJ Folse - who finished as the SCAC leader in kills - middle hitter Rita Araya, who finished fourth in the SCAC in blocks per set, and libero Laynie Kovacs. The 'Roos won five of their final seven matches in the regular season, dropping their season finale to the Bulldogs in three sets.
  • If the Bulldogs handle the 'Roos, they'll face the 2024 regular season champions No. 18 Trinity. The Bulldogs will look to continue their historic season and win their first match against the Tigers since the 2022 SCAC Tournament. The perennial powerhouse led by coach Julie Jenkins is led by 2024 SCAC Player of the Year candidates and 2023 AVCA All-Americans Mackenzie Logan and Maddie Fate.
