James Settles led the Colorado College men's cross country to a fourth-place finish Saturday at the Ted Castaneda Classic in Monument Valley Park.

Settles finished 12
th overall and ninth among collegiate runners, covering the 8K race in 25 minutes, 11.28 seconds.

The Tigers finished the race with 101 points, behind team champion Adams State (33 points), Colorado Mines (33) and Northwest Kansas (87). Paul Knight of Colorado Mines was the top collegiate runner in a time of 24:41.70.

We ran very well today," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "They stayed calm early in the race, then chased down other runners in the second half. Having 13 men under 28:30 at this point in the season, at altitude, shows a lot of depth. It will be great to see what they can do on a fast, sea-level course in two weeks."
