The Colorado College men's swimming team dropped a 142.5-43.5 decision to Division II Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo.
Freshman
Tony Saenz captured CC's lone outright victory, winning the 200-yard IM in a time of 2 minutes, 2.48 seconds. It was his fourth individual victory in just three meets this season. Saenz also finished third in the 100 breaststroke race.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Topher Shepherd tied with Cobi Wood of Mines for first place in the 100 freestyle event, with both touching the wall with a time of 49.02 seconds. He also led off CC's top 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed fourth.
"It was great to have to step up against a really strong team today," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "We are in that pre-taper tired phase, which is a challenging time to race, but I'm happy with the way our team approached it.
Tony Saenz has been a consistently good racer for us.
Topher Shepherd is beginning to show his sprinting talent and
Eric Uerling is showing himself as a strong contributor in our program."
Uerling, a freshman, placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100 butterfly.
The Tigers wrap up the shortened 2020-21 campaign at the SCAC Championship Meet on Feb. 11-13, in San Antonio, Texas.
