#15 Women's Golf Wins Fourth Straight SCAC Title

LAKE WHITNEY, Texas – Trinity's 15th-ranked women's golf team put the finishing touches on a dominating performance at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday at the White Bluff Golf Resort, securing its fourth straight conference title.

The Tigers ran away with the tournament, winning by nearly 60 shots by the end of Tuesday's third round of play. Trinity scored a combined 934 (315-304-314) and had all five of its golfers finish in the top 10 individually. Each of Trinity's three rounds were the top three team scores in the field. Southwestern University finished second with a score of 992, followed by the University of St. Thomas in third with a score of 995. The University of Dallas was fourth, followed by Schreiner University in fifth, Texas Lutheran University in sixth, and Centenary College in seventh.

Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) won the individual title to earn her second SCAC Women's Golfer of the Year award of her career. Hsiu also won medalist honors in 2022, while finishing third in 2021 as a first-year, and also coming in as the runner-up last season. Hsiu shot 231 (78-79-74) for the week, and her +2 score of 74 on Tuesday was the best of the final round. She also led the tournament with 36 pars among her 54 total holes.

Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) was tied for second after shooting a 233 (79-74-80) that was just two shots behind Hsiu for the top score. Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) carded a three-round total of 234 (76-76-82) to finish in a tie for fourth place. Both Tiger women earned a spot on the All-SCAC First Team.

Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) was sixth after scoring 238 (83-76-79) for the week, finishing as one of just four players in the tournament to break 80 in the final round. Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) was tied for ninth after shooting 248 (82-85-81), which put both Trinity golfers on the All-SCAC Second Team.
