BEAUMONT, Calif. – The Trinity men's golf team finished in second place at the 2024 Bulldog Fall Invitational, hosted by the University of Redlands at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.
Trinity played the first 36 holes of the tournament yesterday, except for the last couple of holes for two players getting pushed to this morning due to officials suspending play due to darkness last night. The Tigers shot a team score of 864 (287-299-285) to edge their 11th-ranked hosts Redlands by two shots. The Bulldogs had a five shot lead after the second round, but Trinity closed with its best score of the tournament to pull in front for second place. The University of La Verne (CA) won the event with a total score of 855 for the week.
Graduate students
Giorgio Gianoulis (Salt Lake City, Utah / Rowland Hall) and
Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) both tied for fifth place individually to lead Trinity at the tournament. Both plays shot 215 total for the three rounds, which puts them at one-under par overall. Mason shot 73-71-71 over three rounds, while Gianoulis opened with a career-low 67, then shot 76-72 in the next two rounds. Mason had 11 total birdies, while Gianoulis finished with 10 birdies and an eagle.
Junior
Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) tied his career-low with a 67 of his own in the second round, finishing with a total score of 217 (76-67-74) to tie for 10th place at one-over par. Code led the team with 12 birdies to go with an eagle, collecting six of the birdies in the second round alone. Fellow junior
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) finished 21st with his score of 221 (73-78-70), collecting 11 birdies and carding his best score at two-under 70 today. Grad student
Jack McKay (Spring, Texas / Klein Oak) shot 225 (74-79-72), notching five birdies in today's round to finish at even-par for the day.
