
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Southwestern women's basketball shot over 50% from the field including an 81.8% effort in the first quarter in an 80-61 win over Colorado College, improving to 2-0 in conference action.
The Pirates led by seven, 28-21, after the first quarter and had a ten point lead at the half.
SU extended the lead to 16, 51-35 early in the third, but Colorado College battled back to pull back within ten heading into the final frame.
Southwestern got hot again, outscoring the Tigers 21-12 in the fourth to close out the easy win.
Madison Edwards led Southwestern with 19 points on 8-9 shooting from the floor, 1-1 from three point range and 2-2 from the free throw line. Olivia Podaras added 17 and Tori Carraway 16 in the win.
The Pirates (5-8, 2-0) have their toughest test to date as they return home to face undefeated and nationally-ranked #14/#16 Trinity (13-0, 2-0) on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.
