HOBBS, N.M. – McMurry Men's Golf, finished fifth at the University of the Southwest Fall Invitational on Tuesday after a final-round 301.
The War Hawks went 296-298-301 for 886 and 43 over par. Texas Wesleyan won the tournament at 16 over.
Eli Brinton and
Kendrick Hoster both shot 76 on Tuesday, Brinton finished 17
th, going 73-73-76 for 222. He had birdies on holes three, eight and 11 on Tuesday to bring his total to eight for the tournament.
Cullen Timms shot even-par 71 for the final round and finished 18
th overall – a 14-position jump after the first two rounds. He had birdies on holes five, eight and nine on Tuesday, bringing his total to nine birdies with rounds of 77-75-71.
Hoster finished 24
th, going 75-75-76 for 226 and 13 over par. He added birdies on holes three and 14 to his two birdies on Monday.
Caden Cawvey finished 27
th after shooting a 78 on Tuesday with birdies on holes six, 12 and 18. He shot rounds of 74 and 75 on Monday and ended with seven birdies for the tournament.
Tripten Roberts went 74-77-79 for 230 and 32
nd place. His birdies on holes five and 18 on Tuesday brought his total to six.
Kelen Owensby, participating as an individual entrant, also finished in 32
nd. He had rounds of 74, 78 and 78 for 230. His Tuesday birdies on holes four and 14 brought his tournament total to five.
McMurry finishes the fall season Oct. 21-22 at the Birdies at the Bend Tournament in Sabine Parish, La.
