Crusaders Drop Heartbreaker In Kerrville

IRVING, Texas – The Crusaders and Mountineers engaged in a high-scoring series, with both teams finding offensive success. Schreiner (8-16, 6-12 SCAC) took the series 2-1 over the Cruaders of Dallas (5-16, 5-13 SCAC) in a tightly contested matchup.

The Crusaders battled to a thrilling 11-10 victory in game one, edging out Schreiner in a back-and-forth affair. Game two saw another offensive explosion, but Schreiner responded with a 14-10 win to even the series. The finale was a nail-biter, with Dallas nearly completing a late rally before falling 12-11 in a heartbreaking loss.

Dallas put together a strong offensive performance, collecting 15 hits in the series opener. Caleb Hohman (1-for-4, 4 RBI) delivered a clutch three-run triple, while Luke Gill and Andrew Gaspar each added two RBI.

Despite Schreiner keeping pace, the Crusaders' bullpen held on late. William Mosley, Lucas Aguirre, Jayden Rodriguez, and Keller Shamburger combined to limit the Mountaineers in key moments, preserving the one-run victory for Shamburger.

A big inning proved to be the difference in game two, as Schreiner put up multiple runs late to pull away. Dallas saw another solid day at the plate, with Caleb Hohman (1-for-5, 4 RBI) again leading the charge. Cody Jenkins (3-for-3, 3 R) sparked the offense, while Andrew Gaspar and Tyler Espinosa each drove in runs.

On the mound, the Crusaders' bullpen struggled to contain Schreiner's attack, allowing key runs in the late innings. Despite a strong offensive effort, Dallas fell short in the slugfest.

The series finale came down to the wire, with Dallas mounting a late comeback but ultimately falling just short. The Crusaders racked up 13 hits, led by Dylan Roscopf (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and Andrew Gaspar (1-for-5, 3 RBI). Luke Gill (2-for-5, RBI) and Tyler Espinosa (1-for-4, 2 RBI) added key hits to keep the Crusaders in the game.

 

UDallas will play at 12PM and 3PM on Saturday, March the 29th in Irving, Texas at Crusader Fields.
