'Roo Volleyball Edged by East Texas Baptist

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College battled East Texas Baptist for five sets, but the Tigers came away with a 3-2 win over the 'Roos on Tuesday evening in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 15-9 overall on the year.

Austin College took the first set 25-23 but the Tigers, who improved to 19-3 on the year with the win, took set two 25-18. After ETBU picked up a 25-22 third set win, Austin College put together a dominant fourth set to square things up, winning 25-12. However, the Tigers came out hot in the decisive set, going up 11-3, and the 'Roos were unable to recover in a 15-7 clincher for ETBU. Victoria Smith had 11 kills and Olivia Linton had 10 for the 'Roos, with Smith adding six total blocks in the loss.

Taylor Nemeth chipped in six kills for Austin College, while Madison Manning had 15 assists and 10 digs and Laynie Kovacs had a team-best 15 digs. Brianne Tseng led the 'Roos with 20 assists, adding eight digs, and Tatum Torres had 10 digs while Rita Araya had seven total blocks for Austin College.
