Men's Swim Heads into Conference Championship After Win over McMurry

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Swim team has concluded the regular season after taking a 140-71 point win over the McMurry University War Hawks. The Pirates will head into the conference championships after a year where they gained two dual meet wins, a fourth place finish at the Trinity Invitational and a fist place finish at the Celt Invite.  

HIGHLIGHTS (First Place Finishes)
  • 200 Medley Relay - Starting off the meet in the relay, the team of Andrew Renninger, Owen Rodrigue, Tim Young and Marc Galindo put in a first place effort at a time of 1:41.84, winning by just .07 seconds over McMurry. 
  • 200 Freestyle - In a race with two other War Hawk swimmers, Kaden Jones won with a time of 1:52.66 clearing the next swimmer by over two seconds. 
  • 50 Backstroke - Christophe Gadin cleared his teammate Eli Allen in the sprint race, clocking in at 25.98 for first place.
  • 100 Breaststroke - Luke Lawhon, competing in a field of six, completed the race in 1:01.76, beating out his teammate Galindo (1:02.77) by just under a second. 
  • 100 Freestyle - For his second win of the meet, first individual, Young concluded the freestyle race at 50.14 seconds with Gadin coming in second behind him at 50.53. 
  • 100 Backstroke - Renninger also gathered an individual win and second total win in the backstroke event at a pace of 55.61.
  • 50 Butterfly - Taking his second individual win was Lawhon in fly sprint (24.26). He and Rodrigue battled it out for first with Lawhon coming away with the win by just .16 seconds.
  • 200 Freestyle Relay - Closing out the meet with another team win was Jones, Allen, Jonas Eaton and Keddie Ramsden, finishing first against their teammates at a time of 1:30.20.
