Colorado College captured its first-ever regional title by coming from behind to defeat the University of La Verne in five sets on Saturday night.
The Tigers trailed two sets to one and 7-3 in the fifth set, but used a 12-2 run to close out the set and post the 25-19, 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-9 victory.
Colorado College (35-4) will play Washington University of St. Louis (31-4) in the national quarterfinals at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday in University Heights, Ohio.
Emily Perkins, the regional's Most Outstanding Player, led the Tigers with 21 kills, including four in the fifth set when CC used a 7-1 run to turn a 6-2 deficit into a 9-7 lead.
After ULV cut its deficit to 10-9 on a kill by Anna Calmer, Sarah Schmoker and Meredith Ballard had two kills apiece as Colorado College scored the last five points to close out the match.
Facing a must-win situation in the fourth set, the Tigers never trailed, but they never led by more than four points until Ballard ignited a 6-1 with three kills to square the match at two sets apiece. Ballard was CC's second all-tournament selection.
Laura Goldsmith had nine kills and 24 digs, her fourth consecutive match with 21 or more digs. She finished the match with 429 digs for the season, adding to her freshman record which now ranks seventh on CC's single-season chart.
Amy Schornack posted a personal single-match high of 57 assists and became the sixth player in school history to record 1,000 or more assists in a single season despite playing in a 6-2 offense for the first 17 matches.
Erika Pirotte posted a double-double with 10 kills and a season-high 23 digs.
Colorado College improved to 4-0 in five-set matches this season and 4-5 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. In fact, CC's least three victories have all been in five sets.
It victory also marked the first time in five tries the Tigers have been able to defeat La Verne in the NCAA Tournament.
