TYLER BRANDENBURG OF TEXAS LUTHERAN
UNIVERSITY, a 6-2, 210-pound senior kicker and
punter from Spring, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football
Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday,
September 6th.
Brandenburg, last season's SCAC Co-Special Teams
Player of the Year picked up where he left off last season, going a
perfect 2-for-2 on field goal attempts from 35 and 31 yards out to
extend his field goals made streak to 10. He was 7-for-8 on PATs
with his only miss coming on a blocked kick.
Brandenburg's 35-yarder as time expired in
the first half gave TLU a 17-15 lead at the half.
Brandenburg also had the hustle play of the
game, catching Sul Ross returner Uriah Mosley at the 1-yard line.
It appeared Mosley would score on a 100-yard kickoff return, but
Brandenburg ran down and caught Mosley at the 1.
This is a modal window.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior
defensive back Shane Hodge of Austin
College played a big role in the field position
battle against Rhodes, averaging 8.8 yards per punt return with a
long of 15 yards and also adding three tackles from his defensive
back position. Senior wide receiver Matthew Kennemer
of Trinity racked up 127 yards on five kickoff
returns in the game, highlighted by a pair of crucial returns in
the fourth quarter. His 39-yard return set Trinity up for a
go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, then his next return went for
40 yards to put the Tiger offense in Howard Payne territory on its
final drive. Southwestern's game
was terminated in the third quarter due to lightning in the
area
