Michael Wambsganss, University of Dallas, Player of the Week (Week 2)

MICHAEL WAMBSGANSS OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior guard from Denver, Colorado, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, November 11th through Sunday, November 17th. 

Wambsganss led Dallas, averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Crusaders posted a 2-0 week. In the 71-57 win over Hendrix College, the junior posted his first double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, and he added a team-high four steals as well as a block shot. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ben Hanley of Trinity led the Tigers with 13 points and six rebounds in road loss at UT-Dallas in their only game of the week. Junior Caleb Lister of Texas Lutheran posted a double-double in the Bulldogs’ home loss to Howard Payne, scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Devin Roland of Austin College led the ‘Roos with 17 points, scoring six in overtime for a 81-74 victory over Hendrix. Roland added seven rebounds and two steals in the victory. Sophomore Kyle Poerschke of Southwestern led the Pirates averaging 17.5 points per game, scoring 23 in road loss at Redlands. Poerschke added 12 in 73-54 win over La Verne, for a total of 35 points for the week. Freshman Nathan Ghavidel of St. Thomas led the Celts with 23 points and seven rebounds in his first collegiate game and the Celts home opener of the season.
