NICOLAI VAN ZYL OF UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS, a senior from Longview, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Saturday, September 17 to Saturday, October 1. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 1)
Van Zyl won the 50 breaststroke in 29.04, the 50 freestyle in 23.56, the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.64, and helped lead the 200 medley relay to a first-place finish at Saturday's Ozarks/Centenary dual meet.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Caleb Bush of McMurry swam a winning 100 breaststroke time of 103.32 in Friday's dual meet against DII UT Permian Basin. Junior Tony Barbee of Centenary swam a time of 25.71 to win the 50 fly in the Gents' season-opening meet at home against University of the Ozarks on Saturday. Owner of eight individual wins in his career, Barbee also finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.86.
