GARRETT GARZA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Round Rock, Texas, has been named the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week for meets held through Sunday, March 3rd.
Garza turned in the top SCAC marks in a pair of throwing events last weekend at the Trinity Open to lead TLU. The senior won the shot put with a throw of 16.78 meters, currently the top mark in all of Div. III and finished second in the discus with a toss of 45.55 meters. Garza also finished sixth in the hammer throw (42.49 meters).
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Devin Rosas of Southwestern put together a solid meet at the Trinity Open, placing second in the high jump (1.85m) and setting a personal best in the high jump finishing fourth with a leap of 6.70 meters. Senior Spyridon Defterious of Trinity set a new personal best and finished third in the Javelin with a mark of 46.26 meters.
