ALEX MEDRANO OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Humble, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, August 30th.

Medrano started his junior season in first place, as he pulled away from the field to finish with a time of 17:54.79 – almost a full minute better than the third place finisher.

The Pirate men as a team placed behind cross-town rival Concordia in the 5k race at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Austin Brown of Trinity University came in 14th overall and 2nd for non-Division I runners as he worked his way up during the race, passing a good amount of competitors along the way
