ERIN
RILEY OF AUSITN COLLEGE, a graduate
student forward from Battle Creek, Mich., has been selected the
SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played
through Sunday, November 16th.
Riley was a huge part in a successful
offensive showing for Austin College, as they had their home opener
against Mary Hardin-Baylor this past Saturday.
Riley had a big game in the opener for Austin College, knocking down six three pointers and finishing with 25 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists.
In only one week, Riley is the leading scorer in the SCAC along with fellow senior Christina Kime. She is also the leader in three pointers made in the first weekend of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Briana
Edwards of Centenary picked up where she left off
last season with 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team in the
loss against UT-Tyler. Sophomore forward Kristen Lye of
Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 19 points off
the bench in a tight 58-55 season-opening loss to Texas Dallas. She
led a second-half comeback that saw the Bulldogs battle all
the way back from a 12-point deficit to take the lead with a minute
to go. Junior guard
Caitlin Barrett of Trinity tied for the team lead with
8.0 points/game and 2.0 assists/game over the weekend. She also
picked up four rebounds, and hit 7-17 (41.2%) from the field. Colorado
College and Schreiner did not
nominate anyone. Dallas and Southwestern did not
play.
