BERNIC LEONARD OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Bellaire, Texas, is named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Leonard earns her fourth SCAC Golfer of the Week honor of the year after placing second at the West Region Invitational hosted by the Pirates in Georgetown, Texas.
Leonard helped the Pirate to a seventh place finish in a tough field, featuring three teams ranked in the top-25, including the No. 1 University of Texas-Tyler. Leonard finish one stroke behind UTT's top golfer, Jordan Sloane, posting a two-round score of 156.
After marking an 80 through day one, Leonard improved by four strokes to tie Sloane for the tournament's lowest round, 76.
The Pirates will have next week off in preparation for the SCAC Golf Championship beginning April 20 in Blanco, Texas.
