Ashley Foster, Schreiner University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

ASHLEY FOSTER OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Cypress, Texas has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Friday, September 11th through Saturday, September 12th. 

Foster played big in the back with two shots on goal while leading the Mountaineers to their two shutout victories this week.

Schreiner opens conference play on September 15th against Trinity University. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender, Tara Armstrong of Texas Lutheran University controlled the Bulldogs' defensive backfield and led a Bulldog defensive unit that allowed just one goal in two matches (including a double-overtime shutout of Southwestern). Sophomore goalkeeper, Kylie Hunt of Southwestern University went 1-1-1 this week with two shutouts. Posted 20 saves in 290:00 minutes of action while allowing five goals for a 1.55 goals against average and .800 save percentage. Junior goalkeeper, Jane Thompson of Trinity University allowed one goal, but recorded a season-best five saves to keep the game tied for the Tigers on Friday night. Freshman Anessa Tomblin of Austin College had a strong week for Austin College in three matches, helping the Roos to a record of 1-1-1 and scoring her first career goal from her defensive position. Colorado College, Centenary College and the University of Dallas did not submit nominations.
