Known as the "Getaway Capital of Texas, Whitney is a city in Hill County, Texas and sits three miles east of Lake Whitney. Whitney was established in 1876 when the Houston and Texas Central Railroad (H&TC) built a line through Hill County to Cleburne. The town's namesake comes from Charles A. Whitney, principle stock holder of H&TC, and son-in-law of Charles Morgan.

White Bluff Resort

Nestled on magnificent white limestone bluffs overlooking Lake Whitney, White Bluff is a golf resort with two courses with four star ratings from Golf Digest. The Old Course and The New Course offer dramatically different challenging but enjoyable rounds of golf. In January of 2022, the New Course and Old Course were recognized as the #1 and #2 public courses in the State of Texas by the annual Golfers' Choice list generated by GolfPass. The New Course, which will host this year's SCAC Championships, was additionally ranked #29 of the top 50 in the nation by GolfPass.
