Sixth Seeded Dallas Shocks Southwestern with 66-58 Quarterfinal Victory

The Crusaders improved to 14-12 on the season, while Southwestern fell to 13-13 after the loss.  Dallas advances to face #2 seed and tournament host, Trinity University.  Trinity won 79-53 over Colorado College earlier in the evening to advance to the semifinals.

Dallas shot just over 46% in the second half to pull off the upset, while Southwestern was held under 40% shooting in both periods.  The Crusaders led 27-26 at the half, and never trailed after halftime.

Southwestern did get to within two points (54-52) with 5:27 to play, but Dallas surged to a 10-point advantage with eight unanswered points over the next few minutes to seal the win.

Sammi Tso hit 4-6 three-pointers en route to a 13-point night, leading five Dallas players in double figure scoring.  Marleyna Bustamante and Christy Allen added 12 points each, while Holly Tonry and Brooke Hagemann both finished with 10.  Hagemann also had nine rebounds, while Tonry finished with five assists and six steals.

Southwestern got 15 points off the bench from Olivia Podaras, who connected on 6-of-9 from the field.  Chelsea Leeder also added 14 points and six rebounds, as well as three blocks and a pair of steals.  Annie Bourne led the team with nine rebounds, but was held to just two points.

Dallas and Trinity will square off in the second of tomorrow's SCAC Semifinals at 7:00 p.m.
