PAIGE DUGGINS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward on the women's soccer team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending September 22, 2013.

Duggins, a native of Cedar Hill, Texas, serves on and off campus in a wide array of activities.

She is a member of the Southwestern University Student Foundation which acts as a liaison between students, faculty, senior staff and alumni. She is also Editor of The Megaphone, Southwestern's student run newspaper and has overseen a major overhaul in the newspaper.

Off campus, Duggins currently serves an intern with Senator Wendy Davis of District 10 in Austin and serves alongside staff and faculty members on the Diversity Enrichment Committee at Southwestern University. In addition, she volunteers with Special Olympics, Battleground Texas and LifeWorks while also donating her time to Best Buddies International and SU Splash. Duggins shares her love of soccer by educating youth through the East Austin Parks and Recreation Department as an Assistant Soccer Coach.

"Paige exemplifies what the SCAC and Division III model is about for student-athletes," said Head Coach Jene' Baclawski. "She is involved with many organizations both on and off campus and has been a fixture for our program for the last few years."
Upon graduation, Duggins anticipates heading to a joint education and law program where she can use her internship experience and multiple majors to work on policy changes that improve our educational system.
