GREG ROSS OF
CENTRE COLLEGE, a senior forward from Cincinnati,
Ohio, has been named SCAC Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games
played Monday, December 19 through Monday, January 2.
Ross closed out 2011 with a bang, winning Most
Outstanding Player at the Papa John’s/Country Hearth Inn
Tournament. He recorded a double-double in the first game against
Berry, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
He then hit two free throws with less than a second remaining in overtime to provide the winning margin in Centre’s 69-67 win over the previously undefeated Cavaliers.
For the week, Ross nearly averaged a double-double with 17 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. He also shot a sizzling 65 percent (13 of 20) from the floor while averaging 2.5 assists per game and one steal a game.
