MAVERICK
HARRIS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore
guard from Boerne, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday,
December 21st.
Harris led Schreiner to a 3-0 record over
the weekend while etching his name and Schreiner's name into the
SCAC men's basketball record book.
Harris averaged 15.0 points/game over the weekend to go with 4.3 rebounds/game while shooting 15-of-21 from the field and a blistering 11-for-17 from behind the arch.
Against McMurry, Harris led the way with 19 points including five three pointers made in the seven point win over the Warhawks. He followed that up by shooting 6-for-6 from behind the arch and scoring 22 points in a 11 point win over Pacific Lutheran. His percentage is good enough for third all-time in individual shooting percentages from three point range behind only Brad Price of Millsaps and Andrew Tulowitsky of Oglethorpe (both 7-for-7).
As a team, Schreiner shot 11-for-12 (91.6%) from behind the arch, which was a new SCAC record for three point percentage in a single a game (min. 10 made).
For the season, Harris leads the league in three point percentage, shooting an incredible 66.7%. He also leads the conference in field goal percentage at 71.0%. He is averaging 10.0 points/game in 2014-15.
