KATIE CASTILLON OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right handed pitcher
from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 7th through
Sunday, April 13th.
Castillon threw a pair of shutouts to
help Trinity to a four-game SCAC sweep of Schreiner University over
the weekend, highlighted by her no-hitter to open the second
day’s doubleheader.
Castillon was just a fielding error
from recording a perfect game in game one on Sunday, pitching
Trinity’s 13th no-hitter – its first since 2012.
On Saturday, she finished the doubleheader with a three-hit
shutout over five innings.
Castillon struck out 11 batters and
walked just one over her 10 innings of work.
For the
season, Castillon is 9-7
with an ERA of 3.10, allowing 45 earned runs in 101.2 innings of
work. Castillon has
recorded 78 strikeouts, and her two shutouts this weekend were her
first solo shutouts of the season among her 14 complete
games.
