VICTORIA HERRERA OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior pitcher from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, February 15th through Sunday February 21st.
Herrera pitched just the second no-hitter in Austin College softball history on Saturday, striking out 12 batters with just one walk in a complete game, mercy-rule shortened game against Rust College in her lone appearance of the week.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman pitcher Isabella Robb of Southwestern posted a 1.02 ERA in two games last week. Senior pitcher Kaci Wellik of Trinity University helped the Tigers to a 2-2 record to open the 2016 season last week, capped by a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Freshman pitcher Nichole Aldridge of Centenary College threw three innings of hitless ball Sunday against Rust to pick up her fourth win of the season.
