TAYLOR GRISSOM OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, March 7th through Sunday March 13th.
Grissom notched a pair of pitching wins as the Bulldogs went 4-1 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. She tossed a complete-game five-hitter in the 9-0 win over Western Connecticut, and she went six innings and did not allow a run in the 4-1 championship bracket victory against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Grissom tossed 11 innings, struck out four, did not allow a run, and did not issue a walk.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman pitcher Isabella Robb of Southwestern University threw 16.2 of Southwestern's 26 innings over the weekend to go 2-0. Senior pithcher Kaci Wellik of Trinity was 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA last week, pitching in one game each day against the Crusaders. Junior pitcher Victoria Herrera of Austin College had a strong week for the 'Roos, going 2-2 with a 1.91 ERA in five appearances in the circle.
