CHANDLER SMITH OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman pitcher from Waco, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, March 14th through Sunday March 20th.
Smith was dominant from the mound last week posting a perfect 0.00 ERA to go 3-0. She allowed just seven hits through 3 games (13.2 innings) and struck out five while issuing only one walk. She posted two complete game shutouts to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 sweep of Austin College.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore pitcher Haley Miller of Centenary ran her season record to 4-2 by going 3-1 on the week. Junior pitcher Amanda Lochte of Texas Lutheran tossed a complete-game (5-inning) two-hitter in the Bulldogs' 1-0 victory against Schreiner. Senior pitcher Kaci Wellik of Trinity was 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA for the week, scoring a win on each day of action.
