CASSIE ROCHE OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore shortstop from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 26 through Sunday, April 1.

Roche hit .727 with a home run, two doubles, five runs scored and four RBI in a four-game road sweep of Schreiner. Among her highlights, Roche homered and doubled in game two on Thursday. She had two hits in each of the four games, going 8-for-11 for the series, and also stole four bases.

Roche played perfect defense at shortstop, taking 19 total fielding chances without committing an error. She had 12 assists and seven put-outs.

For the season, Roche is batting .406 (fourth in the SCAC) with 26 hits, eight doubles (third in the SCAC), two home runs, 21 runs scored (fifth in the SCAC), and 17 stolen bases (fourth in the SCAC). She is also third in the league in on-base percentage (.466) and sixth in slugging percentage (.625).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior second baseman Hailey Wilson of Trinity led the Tigers to a 3-1 record in its SCAC road weekend at the University of Dallas. She batted 8-12 (.667) for the week, not to mention laying down three successful sacrifices in the four games. She went 4-for-4 with a run scored in game two of Friday's doubleheader, then finished off the series by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Junior third baseman Mel Savala of the University of Dallas recorded a hit in all four games, including two with a double in the Crusaders' 7-3 win in the series finale against Trinity. She also droe in two runs on a triple during the weekend slate.
