TAYLOR ABSHIRE OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a first-year right-handed pitcher from Abbeville, La., has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 19 through Sunday, February 25.
Abshire appeared in all three of the Ladies' games this week and allowed no earned runs in 12 innings pitched. She twirled her first collegiate complete game in the team's run-ruled, 10-1 win against Grambling State on Tuesday.
For the season, Abshire is third in the league in innings pitched (22.2), second in wins (3) and fourth in earned run average (1.85).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Jessica Vrana of Schreiner picked up the complete game win in the Mountaineers' 9-1 victory in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of McMurry. She allowed four hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.
